Cowboys Sign Veteran Receiver Martavis Bryant

Cowboys sign veteran receiver Martavis Bryant

Bryant is a reclamation project with NFL experience

The Dallas Cowboys have signed veteran wide receiver Martavis Bryant to a one-year contract, the team announced Tuesday. Bryant, 29, has not played in an NFL game since Week 10 of the 2018 season, but he has been working out privately and is expected to be ready to compete for a roster spot when training camp begins in July.

Bryant has been suspended multiple times for violating the NFL's substance-abuse policy

Bryant was a fourth-round pick by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 2014 NFL Draft. He quickly emerged as a playmaker for the Steelers, catching 14 touchdowns in his first two seasons. However, Bryant's career has been derailed by off-field issues. He has been suspended multiple times for violating the NFL's substance-abuse policy, and he was most recently suspended for the entire 2019 season.

The Cowboys are hoping that Bryant can put his past troubles behind him and become a productive player again. He has the talent to be a starting receiver in the NFL, but he will need to prove that he can stay on the field.

Bryant will wear No. 84 for the Cowboys. He is expected to compete for a starting role alongside Amari Cooper and Michael Gallup.

Martavis Bryant Cowboys jerseys, tees and more are at the online store of the Dallas Cowboys.
