UNC's Vance Honeycutt Stuns with Walk-Off Home Run in Super Regionals
Trio of Tar Heels Advance to College World Series
Honeycutt's Blast Seals Victory over Oklahoma
In a thrilling display of walk-off heroics, UNC's Vance Honeycutt unleashed a towering home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to secure a 5-4 victory over Oklahoma in the NCAA Super Regionals. The triumph propelled the Tar Heels, along with fellow ACC rivals Duke and Virginia, into the prestigious College World Series in Omaha, Nebraska.
Honeycutt's grand slam marked the culmination of a dramatic comeback for UNC, who trailed 4-1 heading into the seventh inning. Freshman Tomas Frick had previously tied the game with a solo home run in the eighth, setting the stage for Honeycutt's decisive blow.
The College World Series, widely regarded as "The Greatest Show on Dirt," will commence on June 17th and feature eight of college baseball's top programs. UNC, seeking their seventh national title, will face off against Stanford in their tournament opener, while Duke will square off against Texas and Virginia will take on Tennessee.
