Joe Hart to retire at the end of the season
Celtic goalkeeper to end playing career on his own terms
“I feel physically great but want to go out at the top”
Celtic goalkeeper Joe Hart has announced that he will retire from playing at the end of the season.
The 37-year-old, who has been capped 75 times by England, has enjoyed a successful career spanning two decades.
Hart began his career at Shrewsbury Town before moving to Manchester City, where he won two Premier League titles, two FA Cups and a League Cup.
He also had spells at Birmingham City, Burnley, Torino, West Ham and Tottenham before joining Celtic in 2021.
Hart has been a key player for Celtic, helping them win the Scottish Premiership title and the Scottish League Cup last season.
However, he has decided to call time on his playing career at the end of the current campaign.
“I’ve been thinking about it for a while now,” Hart said.
“I feel physically great, but I want to go out at the top.
“I’ve had an amazing career, and I’m so grateful for everything I’ve achieved.
“But I know that it’s the right time for me to retire.”
Hart will be remembered as one of the best goalkeepers of his generation.
He was a key member of the England team that reached the semi-finals of the 2018 World Cup.
Hart also won the Premier League Golden Glove award in 2010/11 and 2011/12.
He is a true legend of the game, and he will be sorely missed by Celtic fans.
