Canadian Womens Basketball Star Kia Nurse To Miss Remainder Of 2021 Wnba Season

Canadian womens basketball star Kia Nurse to miss remainder of 2021 WNBA season

Nurse suffered a knee injury and had to be helped off

SYDNEY, AP — It was 11 long months for Kia Nurse. After she tore her right ACL last October while playing for the New York Liberty, the Canadian national team star was finally ready to return to the court for the 2021 WNBA season.

But her comeback was cut short on Saturday when she suffered a left knee injury in the Mercury’s 83-75 loss to the Sydney Flames.

Nurse appeared to injure her knee while driving to the basket with about four minutes remaining in the third quarter. She immediately fell to the ground and was helped off the court by two teammates.

The Mercury announced after the game that Nurse had suffered a left knee injury, but did not provide any further details.

It is a cruel blow for Nurse, who has already had to overcome so much in her career. She missed the entire 2020 WNBA season after undergoing surgery to repair a torn ACL in her right knee.

The Mercury are now 1-2 on the season and will be without Nurse for the foreseeable future.

Conclusion

Kia Nurse is one of the most talented and exciting players in the WNBA. Her injury is a big loss for the Mercury and for the league as a whole. We wish her all the best in her recovery and hope to see her back on the court soon.
